Maasai
We can visit for one day a village near Arusha, which is less touristic, than visit a village in one of the National parks.

Chagga tribe combined with the Kilimanjaro waterfalls
The visit to this tribe will take one day combined with a swim and picnic near the falls.

Lushoto, the Usumbara Mountains
Day 1 Starting from the town you will walk through local farms and villages to Irente Viewpoint, overlooking the Maasai Steppe. Visit Irente Farm for a tranquil picnic lunch in the shady garden. For the less energetic visitor, both the viewpoint and the farm can be visited by car along unmade roads. 3 to 4 hrs walk.
Day 2 Visit the Magamba Rainforest. Walking along tracks, you pass through former colonial settlements and camphor wood forests, glimpsing views over Lushoto and the Maasai Steppe. You can also explore Kiguu Hakwewa Hill. This huge excavation was used as a bunker in the Second World War by German residents. 5 to 6 hr walk.
Day 3 Drive to Gologolo, a beautiful but obscure mountain area. Hike through spectacular mountain rain forest and picnic under ancient trees. Then on to Shume where you may catch a glimpse of Kilimanjaro. 4 to 5 hr walk.
Day 4 A relaxing morning before starting the return journey to Moshi.
