My name is David Bungama Nyabirumo. The name Bungama is an African name. My mother gave me to the world near a tree and Bungama means tree in my language. I am born 25 May 1976. As is usual in Africa in former days in a large family. The name of my tribe is Mwikizu. Mariwanda, where I come from, is a village close to Bunda and the Serengeti, Lake Victoria. I spent my youth in this small village and got acquainted here with the tourists who sometimes made excursions from the Serengeti along my village. I liked to follow and to tease them. My parents are farmers, they live in small local houses. They have known good times, but during el Niņo they lost many animals of their cattle. In the good times I got the oppurtunity to study in Moshi. Here I also get my touristlicense. I have many years of experience in accompanying tourists and give a very personal touch when I show them around in Tanzania. A part of my income goes to the younger children of my family in Mariwanda. |
